Gimhae Airport to Haeundae: Bus, Subway & Taxi Guide

Gimhae Airport to Haeundae: Bus, Subway & Taxi Guide

Gimhae Airport to Haeundae

Landing at Gimhae International Airport and heading straight to Haeundae?

You have three practical options:

  • Airport Limousine Bus
  • Light Rail + Busan Metro
  • Taxi

For most travelers, the best choice depends on one thing:

How much luggage are you carrying?

If you have a large suitcase, the direct airport limousine is usually the easiest option.

If you want the cheapest and most predictable route, take the subway.

If you are traveling with two or more people and have several bags, a taxi may be worth the extra cost.

Here is how to get from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae without confusion.

Gimhae Airport to Haeundae: Quick Comparison

Airport Limousine70–90 min₩9,5000Large luggage
Light Rail + MetroAbout 70 minAround ₩1,800 with transit card1Budget travelers
TaxiAround 70 minAbout ₩25,0000Couples, families, late arrivals

Busan Local Notes Recommendation

Large suitcase: Airport Limousine

Traveling light: Subway

2–4 people with luggage: Check the taxi price before deciding

The taxi becomes much more reasonable when the fare is shared.

Option 1: Airport Limousine Bus — Easiest with Luggage

Airport Limousine Bus

For most international travelers carrying luggage, this is probably the most comfortable way to reach Haeundae.

Public Transportation < Transport | GIMHAE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT(영문)

Take:

Busan Airport Limousine 1 — Haeundae / Gijang

The bus travels directly from Gimhae International Airport through major destinations in eastern Busan.

Important stops include:

  • Shinsegae Centum City
  • BEXCO
  • Yachting Center
  • Park Hyatt Busan
  • Hanwha Resort Haeundae
  • Dongbaekseom Entrance
  • Haeundae Beach
  • Haeundae Oncheon Intersection
  • Jangsan Station

Some services continue farther toward Gijang.

Airport Limousine Fare

Adult: ₩9,500

Youth: ₩7,600

Child: ₩4,800

Cash is not accepted.

You can reserve in advance or purchase a ticket at the airport.

Where Do I Catch the Airport Limousine?

At Gimhae International Airport, head to the bus boarding area on the first floor.

The Haeundae/Gijang limousine uses:

Platform 3

You can also purchase tickets from the airport bus ticket kiosk near:

Gate 4

Another option is to reserve using the Bustago app.

If seats are still available, passengers may also be able to board using a transportation card or credit card.

Busan Local Notes Tip

If you have just arrived on an international flight with a large suitcase, I would check the limousine timetable first.

Avoiding a subway transfer after a long flight can easily be worth the extra cost.

Airport Limousine Schedule

As of 2026, the first Airport Limousine 1 departure from Gimhae International Airport is:

07:10

The latest services on the full Haeundae/Gijang route can depart as late as:

21:40

However, not every bus follows exactly the same route.

Some buses terminate around Jangsan, while others continue farther toward Gijang.

Schedules can also change.

Always check the latest departure time on the official Gimhae International Airport website before your flight.

How Long Does the Airport Limousine Take?

Allow approximately:

70–90 minutes

to reach the Haeundae area.

Traffic conditions can make a big difference.

During rush hour or busy weekends, road transportation can take longer.

This is one advantage of the subway:

Its travel time is usually more predictable.

Option 2: Light Rail + Subway — Cheapest Option

If you are traveling light, this is my recommended budget option.

The route is simple.

Step 1

From Gimhae International Airport, follow signs for:

Airport Station

Take the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit toward Sasang.

Step 2

Get off at:

Sasang Station

Step 3

Transfer to:

Busan Metro Line 2

Take Line 2 toward Jangsan.

Step 4

Get off at:

Haeundae Station

That’s it.

The complete route is:

Gimhae Airport → Sasang → Haeundae

Only one transfer is required.

How Long Does the Subway Take?

The journey takes approximately:

70 minutes

depending on your waiting and transfer time.

One major advantage is that road traffic has almost no effect on your journey.

If you arrive during weekday rush hour, this can make the subway more reliable than a taxi or limousine bus.

How Much Does the Subway Cost?

Using a Korean transportation card is strongly recommended.

Busan’s subway adult fare currently starts at ₩1,600 and increases to ₩1,800 for longer journeys.

The Busan-Gimhae Light Rail uses a similar fare system.

Since the additional metropolitan transfer surcharge between Busan and Gimhae was removed in 2025, travelers using a transportation card can transfer between the systems without the old additional metropolitan transfer fee.

For this journey, expect a total fare of roughly:

₩1,800 with a transportation card

depending on your exact trip conditions.

Important

If you buy separate single-use tickets instead of using a transportation card, you may not receive the same transfer benefit.

For tourists planning to use public transport throughout Busan, getting a transportation card is much easier.

Where Can I Buy a Transportation Card?

Transportation cards such as T-money or Cashbee are commonly available from convenience stores.

Once you have one, you can use it for:

  • Busan Metro
  • Busan-Gimhae Light Rail
  • City buses
  • Many taxis

Remember to keep enough balance on the card.

Is the Subway Difficult with Luggage?

It depends.

One suitcase?

Usually fine.

Two large suitcases?

The limousine or taxi becomes much more attractive.

The biggest inconvenience is the transfer at Sasang Station.

You will need to:

Leave the light rail platform.

Follow signs for Metro Line 2.

Move through the station with your luggage.

Then board another train.

It is not difficult, but after a long international flight it may not be enjoyable.

Option 3: Taxi — Best for Groups

A taxi is the easiest door-to-door option.

According to Gimhae International Airport’s official fare estimate, a standard taxi from the airport to the Haeundae area costs approximately:

₩25,000

with an estimated journey of around:

70 minutes

The exact fare depends on traffic and your final destination.

Late-night surcharges may also apply.

Taxi Makes More Sense Than You Might Think

Imagine two people traveling together.

Airport limousine:

₩9,500 × 2 = ₩19,000

Taxi:

Approximately ₩25,000 total

The difference is only around ₩6,000 for the group.

For three people:

Airport limousine:

₩28,500

A taxi may actually be similarly priced or cheaper, depending on traffic and destination.

This is why I recommend that couples and small groups compare the total group cost, not just the price per person.

When I Would Choose a Taxi

I would seriously consider a taxi if:

  • You are traveling with 2–4 people
  • You have several large suitcases
  • Your hotel is not close to Haeundae Station
  • You arrive late at night
  • You are exhausted after a long flight
  • You are traveling with young children

Door-to-door transportation can be worth paying a little more for.

How to Get a Taxi at Gimhae Airport

Official taxi stands are located outside the passenger terminals.

Use the official taxi queue rather than accepting unsolicited rides from someone approaching you inside the terminal.

Most taxis accept credit cards.

For Korean taxi apps, Kakao T is widely used.

Having mobile data immediately after landing makes this much easier.

Which Option Is Best?

Choose the Airport Limousine if:

You have large luggage.

Your hotel is close to one of the limousine stops.

You want a direct journey without transfers.

Choose the Subway if:

You want the cheapest option.

You are traveling alone.

You have light luggage.

You want predictable travel time.

Choose a Taxi if:

You are traveling as a couple, family or small group.

You have multiple suitcases.

You arrive late.

You want door-to-door transportation.

What If My Hotel Is Near Haeundae Beach?

The airport limousine is particularly convenient.

It stops directly around the Haeundae Beach area.

Depending on your hotel, you may be able to walk from the bus stop instead of transferring again.

For subway travelers, Haeundae Station is approximately a short walk inland from the beach.

Check your exact hotel location before choosing your transportation.

What If I’m Staying Near Mipo?

Mipo is located east of the main Haeundae Beach area.

If you stay around Mipo or near Haeundae Blueline Park, you may still need:

  • A short taxi ride
  • A local bus
  • Or a longer walk

after arriving at Haeundae.

If you have heavy luggage, a taxi directly from the airport may be particularly convenient.

Mipo is also where one of the Busan Sky Capsule stations is located.

What If I’m Staying in Gwangalli Instead?

Do not travel all the way to Haeundae first.

Gwangalli is located west of Haeundae.

Use your map app to find the best route directly from Gimhae Airport.

Arriving Late at Night

This is where planning becomes important.

If your flight lands close to the last airport limousine departure, do not assume you will make the bus.

You still need time for:

  • Immigration
  • Baggage collection
  • Customs
  • SIM or eSIM setup
  • Finding the bus platform

If you arrive late, a taxi may be the simplest option.

Busan Local Notes Tip

For late flights, check your expected airport exit time, not just your scheduled landing time.

A flight landing at 9:00 PM does not mean you will be outside the terminal at 9:05 PM.

Apps I Recommend in Busan

Foreign visitors often rely heavily on Google Maps.

In Korea, I recommend also installing:

Naver Map

and/or

Kakao Map

These apps are especially useful for checking local public transportation.

For taxis:

Kakao T

can also be useful.

This is another reason having mobile data immediately after landing is valuable.

Before Leaving the Airport

Before heading to Haeundae, I recommend checking four things:

  1. Make sure your phone has mobile data.
  2. Check your hotel address.
  3. Check the latest airport limousine timetable.
  4. Decide whether convenience or price matters more today.

After a long flight, the cheapest option is not always the best option.

My Recommendation as a Busan Local

If I were arriving alone with one small suitcase:

Subway

If I had one large suitcase:

Airport Limousine

If I were traveling with my partner and two large suitcases:

Taxi

If I were traveling as a family:

Taxi or Airport Limousine

There is no universally best answer.

The important thing is to compare the total cost, luggage and number of travelers.

For many first-time visitors, the airport limousine offers the best balance between convenience and price.
